Statement of Assemblyman Lancman On City's Refusal To Award Broadway-Flushing "Historic District" Status

Assemblyman Rory Lancman joins with members of the Broadway-Flushing Homeowners Association in Bowne Park to demand the that the New York City Landmarking Commission help preserve Broadway-Flushing's distinctive character by officially recognizing the neighborhood as a historic district.  The neighborhood has already been recognized as a national and state historic district but the New York City Landmarking Commission has refused to make Broadway-Flushing a historic landmark district.

"Broadway-Flushing is a rare slice of classic Queens.  This one hundred year old community is undeniably historic.  The Landmark's Commission should declare it a historic district and preserve its unique character," said Assemblyman Lancman.
